Blackberry Mile — Powell River

Fast point to point road mile in conjunction with the Powell River Blackberry Festival. $100 cash for first male and female overall. Race ends in time to go to the Blackberry Festival Street Party on Marine Avenue starting at 7pm.

How to Register
Entry Fees:
- Age 20 and older: $15 online, $20 day of race
- 19 & Under: $10 online, $15 day of race
- BC Athletics 'athlete' members deduct $3
Proceeds will be donated to Canuck Place.
3 Ways to Enter:
- Register online until 6:00pm August 15th (now closed). Secure online payment and instant confirmation.
- Enter in person — (cheques payable to Avid Fitness Center) at Avid Fitness, #102–7373 Duncan Street, Powell River, BC, V8A 1W6
- Sign up race day from 5:00 to 5:45pm at the start area.

Location & Directions
Registration and start are on Manson Avenue in front of the Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall.
Parking
There is plenty of parking just down the hill from the registration area, at Edgehill School.
You can see the finish from the start line on this course!
Facilities
There will be portable toilets at the start. FREE showers at AVID Fitness after the race.
Course
One mile point to point on Manson Avenue. Gradual downhill to flat for first 1200m, gradual uphill to flat for last 400m.
The race starts at the JW Kingdom Hall and runs down Manson towards Duncan Street. The finish line is at the driveway into Emerald Lane which is just a little less than 200 metres after Duncan Street. You can see the finish all of the way from the start. This thing is like a real drag race! It is a chance to burn 100 calories as fast as you can. And there is slightly more downhill than level ground or uphill. So this might be the fastest mile that you ever run in your life. See GMAP approximation of the course.
Timing and Results
Finish times will be recorded with a professional printer-timer device. Display clock will be set up at the finish line. Please make sure your bib number is clearly visible on your front. Final results to be posted on this website within a few days of the race.
Awards & Prizes
Top male and female finisher will each receive $100 cash.
Post-run Refreshments
Beverages and baked goodies at the finish line for runners. Then grab a shower at AVID and join the Blackberry Festival Street Party on Marine Avenue starting at 7:00pm, then stay for the fireworks at dusk!
